She left the television series 7th Heaven after performing in the sixth season. In the film Ulee's Gold, she gained immediately recognition for her exceptional acting. The film in which she starred won Best Young Supporting Actress. Summer Catch, a comedy film in which she was a part of was a testament to her talents as a performer. In spite of her outstanding performance, Rules of Attraction was not a big hit. It was later that the public was drawn by her character on The Texas Chainshaw Massacre. Her work in suspense film has proven her a serious actor.
