Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was TV personality and ex-chef at the Institute of Culinary Education and previously taught cooking. Burrell hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef at the Food Network. With her signature spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques for home cooks on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at some of the top restaurants within New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in restaurant management after she earned an English/Communications degree at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America is a wonderful experience. It was difficult to master how to do, or even work hard enough. After graduation, chef Burrell was able to spend a full year in Italy attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners while working at La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. During her time in Italy she was able to fully comprehend and appreciate the philosophy of Italian culinary and cultural traditions that made a lasting impression in her perspective. Burrell was a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten children living with obstacles and is also a Juvenile diabetes research foundation Celebrity Ambassador where she advocates for children with diabetes and awareness. She frequently travels around the nation in her capacity as both a mentor and public speaker in which she speaks about her career and love of cooking. In her journey to culinary excellence, Anne has always said I feel extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion for life with people.
